Daily DLP: Hard Look at 2024 Draft Class Entering Year 3 | Detroit Lions Podcast A draft class searching for traction Spawned by a fan question over the Memorial Day weekend, the Daily DLP examines the Lions' NFL Draft class of 2024. As the class enters its third season in Detroit, there are legitimate questions surrounding the futures and fates of all the players the Lions selected. It starts with CB Terrion Arnold. The Lions traded up with the Cowboys to secure Arnold's services. To this point, the Cowboys have won the trade. Arnold has flashed potential but remains a question mark as a long-term starter at outside cornerback due to injuries, penalties and inconsistent coverage. The next three picks have done next to nothing in Detroit in their first two collective seasons. Ennis Rakestraw has been healthy enough to play in just eight games. Detroit still can't be sure of what Rakestraw is to the roster at this point. The same is true for OT Giovanni Manu. Everyone knew Manu was a developmental project, but his inability to prove he can even be OT4 in 2026 is not a good sign. Sione Vaki was also a project, transitioning from college safety at Utah to NFL running back. Other than being a reliable cog on special teams, Vaki hasn't done much to indicate he'll earn a second contract in Detroit yet, either. Vaki has done more than Mekhi Wingo, the next Lions pick. The sixth-rounder has been a healthy scratch for more than half of his first two seasons. Finally, Christian Mahogany is fighting to keep his starting left guard spot.
